Graveyard Keeper 2 Graveyard Rating Guide
Graveyard rating comes from skulls plus grave furniture: read a body's white and red skulls first, then fit a headstone and fence it can support.
The four rating elements
- White skulls set the grave-quality ceiling a body can support — more is better.
- Red skulls drag the result down — fewer is better.
- Headstone and fence each carry a quality value, but expensive decoration cannot lift a low-white-skull body without limit.
- Total graveyard rating accumulates from graves and facilities; fixing one body and expanding the grounds are separate jobs.
First burial: six safe steps
- Receive the body. Carry the delivery into the morgue.
- Inspect first. Place it on the autopsy table and read the skulls before removing anything.
- Make only explainable cuts. Organ effects vary — if unsure, leaving the body intact is safer than a surgery mistake.
- Mark a grave at the blueprint desk. Place an empty grave in the graveyard, then dig it.
- Bury and add a marker. The first free grave-furniture technology provides the Wooden Sign.
- Collect the burial certificate. The tutorial awards the first certificate once the grave is complete and sends you back to the guard captain.
Early grave furniture: start with wood
Quality is the value stored on the item; the body's skulls still constrain the final grave.
| Furniture | Quality | Materials | Technology | |---|---|---|---| | Wooden Sign | +1 | 2× Board, 2× Stick | Wooden Sign (free) | | Wooden Cross I | +2 | 2× Wooden Plank, 2× Bronze Nails | Wooden Gravestones I | | Wooden Fence I | +1 | 2× Wooden Plank, 2× Bronze Nails | Wooden Gravestones I |
Bury, hold or cremate?
- Bury now — reasonable white skulls, few red skulls, and you need the quest progress or burial certificate. Fit the marker and fence you can afford.
- Hold on a corpse pallet — you do not understand the organ values yet, lack materials, or are waiting for an autopsy unlock. Pausing beats removing organs blindly; even bodies in the same tier can carry different organ values.
- Cremate later — many red skulls and few white skulls, so expensive furniture is unlikely to produce a worthwhile grave. Once Body Places I and Crematorium I open, route these bodies into cremation.
Early graveyard technology order
- Wooden Sign — free research when the branch is available.
- Wooden Gravestones I (R5 G2) — the first meaningful grave upgrade: Wooden Cross I and Wooden Fence I.
- Graveyard Keeper I (R2 G5) — opens Grave Area I and Exterior Bench I, expanding the grounds rather than improving one corpse.
- Body Places I (R5 G5) — adds Crematorium I, giving poor bodies an alternative to occupying a grave.
These costs come from the same tech tree data behind the early tech route.
Three common mistakes
- Memorising one removal order. The data contains dozens of body templates, and organ values differ between them — read each body on the table instead.
- Out-decorating the skulls. Quality furniture on a low-white-skull body wastes materials; decoration only fills the ceiling the body sets.
- Ignoring the facilities half of rating. Total rating also accumulates from graveyard facilities, so expanding the grounds is its own job, separate from improving any single grave.
