Graveyard Keeper 2 Town Gratitude Guide

Fill the weekly 10 Town Gratitude in one run by buying Herm's thumbs-up goods and selling them back, for a net cost of about 2 silver.

The weekly chore this solves

Town Gratitude is a weekly resource you spend on sermons to produce Faith, and one sermon costs 10. The taught accumulation route — selling things — is capped per week, which turns it into something you babysit. The goal here is filling the weekly 10 in a single run at almost no net cost.

Why the taught method falls short

Selling burial certificates does pay gratitude, but testing shows the route caps at 5 per week — seven certificates handed in still paid only 5. Since a sermon wants 10, certificates alone never fill the bar.

Quest rewards hand over 5 gratitude at a time, which exactly covers the gap — but quests are finite. Treat quest gratitude as early bridging, not the long-term answer.

The trick: buy from Herm, sell straight back

Herm's stock list marks certain goods with a thumbs-up icon. Those goods pay gratitude when you sell them back to him, so you buy, immediately resell, and convert the price spread into gratitude.

| Step | Goods | Money | | --- | --- | --- | | Buy | 5 fillets, 30 wheat, 30 carrots, 30 beets, 30 cabbages | −7s 53c | | Sell the same haul back | Thumbs-up goods return cash + 10 gratitude | +5s 27c | | Net | Full weekly 10 in one run | −2s 26c |

The full cycle ends 44 copper ahead

After the sermon, empty the offering box: the test run collected 2s 70c with the money bonus applied. Against the 2s 26c sell-back cost, the whole loop finishes 44 copper in profit — so this isn't about saving coin, it's about automating the weekly 10 gratitude for effectively nothing.

Habits that keep the loop smooth

  • Store prayers, faith and gratitude in the chest beside the church — that's where they get used.
  • Carry burial certificates with you instead; the morgue run is frequent and certificates double as quick silver.
  • Run the buy-sell loop when the week resets so the gratitude bar never sits half-full.

Why it matters

Gratitude feeds sermons, sermons produce Faith, and Faith drives inspiration progress — so this cheap weekly routine sits at the bottom of a much larger progression chain. Later in the game the weekly cap reportedly rises from 10 to 20 and warehouse orders enter the picture, but the buy-sell routine remains the reliable floor.
